Goal-line technology. Yay or nay?
This week FIFA president Sepp Blatter has confirmed that goal-line technology will be used in next years Confederations Cup in Brazil and the World Cup the following year. However, does this sap the enjoyment out of football?
What are we all going to talk about on a Monday morning? ‘Oh, did you see the referee consult the control panel to see if the ball went in the goal?’ It doesn’t have the same ring to it, don’t you think? For many years now ‘goals’ have not been awarded due to poor positioning/eyesight of the referees and/or his assistants. Does this make football a joke or give fans a talking point?
To flip the argument, would you feel more secure in the knowledge that all ‘goals’ will be awarded?
